Our Approach to Skills Development
Back in 2001, we discovered that by visually mapping learning content and crafting discovery-based activities around this; we were able to facilitate faster learning. It also fostered higher retention and application in the workplace. Our picture-based learning system that forms the cornerstone of our skills development training has evolved significantly over the past 10 years.
Past Successes
In 2002, we undertook our first project for a major global oil company. We were tasked with training 27,000 people, in 1,200 business locations across seven counties. We’ve since created customised solutions for five of the top 15 Global Fortune 500 Companies as well as many large listed companies in South Africa, Angola, Kenya, Botswana, UAE, Malaysia, USA and Canada.
We’ve undertaken 500+ projects all of which differ vastly in content, extent and complexity. It’s our skills development process which remains constant. We focus on the following stages of engagement:
- Pre-sales – Exploratory, investigative
- Analysis – Business objectives, learning outcomes, training environment, training capacity, measurement options
- Design – Concept development, storyboarding, prototyping, peer review
- Development of materials – Learning maps, cards, guides, assessment instruments, worksheets
- Testing – Pilot, quality control, changes
- Publishing – Digital e-learning or print including packaging
- Implementation – Training learners, training trainers, supporting and managing trainers, managing implementation
- Measurement – Audience reactions, learning outcomes, change in behaviour, business results
- Maintenance – Keep material current and relevant
